In the 'In Memory of the Fallen' education programme, students follow the stories of the Waikato Mounted Infantry from Sloane Street to Gallipoli, learning about the challenges faced and the personal qualities needed to meet those challenges.
The museum-based activities are custom designed with the classroom teacher and are usually based around their learning intentions. An effort is made to ensure all main points are taught through something to see, hear and do.
Depending on your learning intentions programmes may include:
- Archival film and photographs
- Local collection items relating to the Gallipoli campaign
- Custom presenations on the Gallipoli campaign
- Interactive activities
- Hands-on construction of replica artifacts
- Magnetic Poetry
Programmes usually last 90 minutes but we are flexible to suit the needs of the teacher and student.
