Simple Machines

Simple Machines

Portable music devices were just a lot simpler in the old days! With the 'Simple Machines' education programme, students can experience with their own hands, machines from our region's past, work out how they function, and compare these machines with the machines of today.

The contents of each programme are constructed around the learning intentions of the teacher, however in the past the 'Simple Machines' education programmes have contained:

  • Hands-on experience with the operation of simple machines
  • Interactive group activities based on the collection items
  • Discussion based on historic film and photographs
  • Presentations on the history of selected machines

Programmes usually last 90 minutes but we are flexible to suit the needs of the teacher and student.

Recent teacher feedback from the 'Simple Machines' education programme.
