The arrival of Maori in the Waikato threw up a multitude of new environmental problems that required innovative solutions. In the education programme 'Maori Innovation', students have hands-on experience with the technology that was developed to solve everyday problems, and complete their own problem solving by working out what problems this technology of the past actually solved.
The contents of each programme are constructed around the learning intentions of the teacher, however in the past 'Maori Innovation' education programmes have contained:
- Hands-on experience with a large collection of early Maori Technology
- Activities engaging students in the Tangata Whenua gallery
- Presentations and demonstrations based around early Maori Technology
- Early film and video footage
Programmes usually last 90 minutes but we are flexible to suit the needs of the teacher and student.
