Waipa: Champions of War?

Almost 150 year ago events unfolded that dramatically changed NZ and Waipa. These events were the Waikato Campaign of the NZ wars.

Waipa district is promoted as 'Home of Champions', however,  can the identities involved in shaping Waipa during the Waikato Campaign be considered champions?

Break down of the actual task

1. Choose an identity involved in the Waikato Campaign of the NZ wars.

2. Describe some of the events they took part in and personal qualities they demonstrated during these events.

3. Comment on whether the qualities they demonstrated were the qualities of 'champions'.
