Te Maori - 25 Years

E nga mana, e nga reo, e nga karangarangatanga maha, tena koutou katoa.
Ki nga tupuna, ko tenei te mihi aroha ki a koutou kua wehe atu ki te po. Moe mai ra koutou katoa.

On September 10 1984 an exceptional exhibition of taonga (Maori cultural treasures) opened to critical acclaim at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Over the following 18 months Te Maori travelled to Saint Louis, San Francisco and Chicago before returning to tour New Zealand. The exhibition was a pinnacle of centuries of cultural creativity and decades of determined political change.

The esteemed taonga Uenuku that is permanently housed at Te Awamutu Museum was part of the touring exhibition Te Maori. We therefore embrace this opportunity to mark the 25th anniversary of this important event and encourage you to join with us.
